World Cup, Time to Consider Monitors

Referees are human and there will be no monitors to review plays. These were the words of FIFA President Blatter in December 2009.

Recently, at the World Cup, Blatter had to apologize to Mexico and England for poor calls made by his referees. He even mentioned the possibility of reviewing the technology issue, but fell far short of saying that the technology will be used in the future.

As a soocer fan, I strongly suggest that President Blatter take advantage of the available technology and push the other stubborn members of FIFA to give it a try by approving its use. I can’t understand why an organization is willing to accept such controversy that can be avoided, just by being stupidly stubborn.

Get with it, use the technology, come into the 21st century like the other sport teams and do the right thing. I MAKE THE CALL.
