The Annual Bret Favre Wait and watch

We should be use to it by now.

No wonder Favre keeps us wondering and getting all of this media attention. I would also, if given the opportunity.

Free publicity, and no 2 a day workouts in the sweltering heat.  I can do that for a mere $12 mil per year.

Childress and the Viking organization are spineless to keep this charade going with Favre.

What about the other players who get fined and ostracized for not showing up to camp on time?

Okay, so the man has had the ankle worked on three times, and it appears it is not getting any better. If this is the case, put him on the injured reserve list and move on.

I know that if I were one of the Vikings quarterback waiting in the wings, I would be having some serious thoughts about the situation.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that they can do about it. Favre gets his way while the rest of the football world takes a seat and wait for his return. I MAKE THE CALL.

NFL, Vikes and Cards in search of Quarterbacks

Two playoff teams from last season, the Vikes and the Cards are in a quandary over the quarterback position. They both need to fill the void, and fill it very quickly.

Should Childress turn to Jackson or Rosenfels to fill the void or, should he just wait around for off and on again Favre?

The least the Vikes should do is give one of them a chance to compete for the starting job. It would put one of them at ease going into next season.

On the other hand, the Cards made their decision by resting their laurel on Leinart. Leinart knows that the starting quarterback job is his to win or lose. Keep in mind when the Heisman winner was drafted, they had high hopes for the team with him at the QB position.

It did not fare well for him. Now he can be the second coming at the position and be the savior for the team. I don’t think so, but he is all the Cards have at this time unless they make a run at McNabb who will make a better fit with the Vikes.

Several other teams are faced with quarterback needs. The Bills, Redskins, Rams and Browns, the latter not as much because they have Anderson who has proven himself from time to time at the position.

If I am the general manager of any of these teams, I would stand pat, use the draft and groom my long term quarterback. I MAKE THE CALL.

Dome Championship Weekend

Three of the four teams standing are dome teams. Only the Jets play naturally.

Does this mean they are at a disadvantage? Hell no, but it means that the opposing teams have speed on their side . The Jets are the overall number one defensive team, and if they are to win, they must stop Manning who has one of the quickest releases in football.

Both teams are relatively healthy. One relys on the pass, the other on the run, Sanchez, plays to your strength, Green and Jones, and leave the rest to your team mates. If you don’t, Dome will mean DOOM for the Jets. Remember, the Colts are the fastest defensive team left in the playoffs. I MAKE THE CALL, THE COLTS BY 2 TOUCH DOWNS. Take it to the bank.

Down in Bayou Town, Brees, Moore, Colson and a nicked up Meacham are waiting for the Nordsmen from the great north.

They are a little beat up along the front seven, and if Sean decides to use the screen passes to overcome the speed rushes, the Vikes are road kill.

All quarterbacks in this weekend championship playoff are gunslingers.  Bret is the best at it. Hope fully he does not revert to his trying to make a miracle play while under heavy pressure. If he does, he might not be as lucky as he was in the San Fran game when Blye dropped the sure interception.

I am looking forward to Reggie running between the tackles like he did last week, this was a new wrinkle in the Saints offensive game. Where has it been all year? Too bad, tightends for both teams will be in effective. Don’t expect help from Jeremy on Jared Alan. There will be many offside calls against the Vikes. Get use to it, you are now in the superdome, not the metrodome. The Saints’ fan are louder. I MAKE THE CALL, THE SAINTS AT HOME BY A FIELD GOAL.  BANK IT.
