As much as I hate to say it, I must.

It looks like the owners are going to lockout the players. I don’t see an agreement by March 3rd. Why? It is very simple.

All the problems associated with the NFL is self inflicted and neither players or owners are willing to recognize this.

Players are not going to give back what hey have gotten, and why should they.

Owners want more and are trying to take back money that the players are now getting.

In other words, the owners want more for less. Having to give up a billion from the top seems ridiculous and wanting to play an 18 game season with minimal benefits and remunerations is really asking too much of the players, not to mention the safety concerns.

The only way to prevent the lockout is to put everything on the table from both parties and go from there, keeping in mind that what the players are currently receiving is not part of the bargaining chip. I MAKE THE CALL. (RELEASE TUESDAY)

What was Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato thinking when they guaranteed $41m of a $100m deal with Haynesworth whose first name is trouble from jump street?

The man is a total fraud and has too much baggage for anyone to offer him a contract worth $100m. I guess I was wrong.

The Redskins thought he was worth it and now the team realizes that it was a big mistake. He stayed away from all mandatory camps, and could not get through training camp because of his condition. Now, he does not like Mike Shanahan’s 3-4 defense and has demanded that he go back to a 4-3 defense which makes him comfortable. What a character.

The inmate is now telling the warden how to run the prison. Haynesworthless needs some behavior modification, and Coach Shanahan did the right thing by suspending him for the remainder of the season without pay. If that does not wake him up, then nothing else will. Good on you coach for taking that approach.

I just wonder why it took you so long to execute it. We all know that Dan Snyder has the second most profitable franchise in the NFL, but I don’t think he has that kind of money to burn on these bad picks. Wake up Dan. Sunday’s game between the Vikes and the Packers was significant. It was the 100th meeting between the two teams, but that anniversary was overshadowed by Favre’s inept performance.

By now, someone in his camp should have the decency to tell him that it is time give it up. He is 41 years old and has played for 20 years. He has nothing to prove to anyone, not even himself.

He has been to the mountain top and has records galore. Brett, Sunday’s performance was indicative of you, and your stats showed. Your one time underling, Aaron Rodgers had a great day and threw for over 300 yards. You on the other hand went 17 for 38 and a mere 208 yards.

This is not the Favre we have all come to know and love. Last year admittedly was a banner year for you when you threw only 7 interceptions the entire season. With 6 games yet to be played, you have thrown 17 and have turned the ball over 22 times.

While you are still able to remain vertical on the field, do all of us and yourself a favor, just walk away. You have earned your retirement and a place in the Hall of Fame. I MAKE THE CALL.

Notre Dame and Michigan were both winners over the weekend.

They will meet in South Bend this Saturday. Both teams need the win, but Michigan needs it more than Notre Dame for Coach Rodriquez’s sake.

Coach Kelly is just into his second game with the Irish, but Coach Rodriquez is on the hot seat at Michigan.

Matt Leinart was not unemployed for too long. Houston gave him a one year contract on Saturday.

Houshmandzaeh ended up in Baltimore with the Ravens. I don’t know why the Redskins did not pick him up. They need a receiver badly and Houshmandzadeh would have fit in nicely with their schemes.

Call it the luck of the Irish, but Dennis Dixon is now the starter for the Steelers. By process of elimination, he got the starting quarterback’s job. They hope to have Leftwich back in three weeks after severely spraining his ankle.

It looks like Albert Haynesworth might be going back home. The Titans have shown a spark of interest in him if the Redskins is willing to deal him.

The best news over the Labor Day Weekend was from the Jets, Revis has signed. I would sign also if I was given a contract worth $46 million and $32 million is guaranteed. I MAKE THE CALL.

Reality or drama has come to the Bengals.

I don’t know who hogs the spot light the most, but I do know that Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco are two of the best at it.

T.O. coming to the Bengals leaves one unanswered question: how many balls will Carson Palmer be tossing around  to satisfy both of them?

Unfortunately, the league allows only one ball at a time, and I am certain there will not be enough for both of them in any game. I am only waiting to see who breaks out first.

I guess Antonio Bryant’s knee not healing as expected gave T.O. the opportunity to play this year. What I am looking at is the $28 mil over 4 years that Bryant was signed to.

Well, I think that the Bengals got T.O. at bargain basement money, a mere 2 mil with another 2 mil in incentives. T.O. has a lot left as a player. If he drops the me and add the we, this Bengal team can be a threat to the likes of the Ravens, Colts and Chargers. I MAKE THE CALL.

Patrick Crayton and Roy Williams are both unhappy in Dallas.

Crayton wants to be traded and Williams realizes he only has himself to blame for lack of production on his part.

More than likely Crayton will be moving on, but not Roy Williams.

Jerry Jones paid too much of a price to let him go, and letting Roy go will seem as if Jerry made a big mistake.

The Cowboys are really in an enviable position for having so many good receivers. The Boys currently have

• Austin, Heard
• Williams
• Crayton
• Rookie Bryant on their roster.

One of these receivers is going to be the odd man out, but who? Dez Bryant the rookie will be the return man, Crayton will be the emergency receiver in the event Austin, Williams or Heard goes down. The backfield is set with Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Barber is the beast, and Jones is the speedster.

How many touches each one will get is up for debate. No Cowboy running back has had 300 touches in a season since Emmitt Smith did it in 1999.

Every year the football world has to sit around and wait for his majesty King Favre to put out his edict on whether or not he will be participating in football this upcoming season.

If you are a politician, it is called politrics. In Favre’s case, it is Favretricks.

When are we as fans of football going to say enough is enough?

Why do we allow Favre to hold the NFL hostage?

Why does the owner, coach and everyone else associated with the team put up with type of behavior?

He is not the only football player on the planet. Yes, he plays the game much better than most, but the last time I checked on what made up a team, the number was 53 personnel.

This behavior by Favre, to delay decisions on whether he will have surgery or not have surgery plays havoc with an entire roster welfare. That is simply not right, and some one should stand up and say it. Better yet, management should make a move on what to do about the Favretricks. I MAKE THE CALL.

The NFL really stands for “not for long”.  Not too long ago, Commissioner Goodell was dishing out suspensions left and right, upside down and center, but only to Afro-Americans. If memory serves me right, there were 12 Afro-Americans reprimanded before he gave Big Ben a recess of 6 weeks away from the league.

Tank Johnson and Chris Henry were given 8 game suspensions and Pacman Jones was given a year off. I am not saying that these guys did not deserved to be punished. What I am saying is that the punishment given to them compared to Big Ben is not equal or justified and the trace of racism exist.

If the Commissioner is trying to protect the Brand, that is all fine and dandy. Just be fair to all players. It now looks as if ratings can also be a part of Big Ben’s small punishment. Beginning the 8th week of the NFL season, Pittsburgh will be playing against three of the elite quarterbacks and that spells high ratings. I do believe those games with the Bengals, Saints and Patriots will have high ratings and that benefits the NFL, and lets Big Ben off the hook lightly.

Now it is time for me to take a break from football and concentrate on professional and college basketball.
