NBA, Tension in the Big Easy

Chris Paul wants out of New Orleans, but where will he be heading, and who can afford him? There are several teams expressing interest in Chris, most of them don’t stand a chance in getting a championship ring in the next 2 to 4 years. It appears that Chris is of the mindset like King James and his two princes. He wants a ring and he wants it now, not later. We can rule him out of going to Miami, and if he is serious and has taken the time to do his due diligence, then the only team that should perk his interest should be the Orlando Magic.

What a combination it would be having Superman Dwight Howard and Chris Paul playing together! Now that is a championship team in the making since the Magic is one of the 4 elite teams that can really compete for a title next season.

Chris, if you are truly serious about leaving the Big Easy, then the City Beautiful should be your next stop. Come on down to Orlando where the sun is hot, the fans are loyal and you can just about guarantee a ring within 2 years. I MAKE THE CALL.

The Three Kings

Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and Lebron James will make any team the Dream Team.

Will it happen? Can it happen? These are the questions waiting to be answered.

It can happen if interested teams are willing to clean house completely and rebuild on the “Three Kings”.

We all know that it won’t happen. It is not about money for Lebron. He makes more with his endorsements than on the court.

D Wade is perfectly happy in Miami if they come up with the right contract Pat Riley can make that work.

Chris Bosh is the missing link in all of this.

Let Lebron remain in Cleveland, they can afford both he and Chris. He is at home, and home wants him to stay at home.

Bosh along with Lebron can win a championship in Cleveland.

Miami is the only threat to Lebron and Chris hooking up in Cleveland, but only if the Three Kings all agree to take big cuts in salaries for a ring in the near future.

Knowing Pat Riley, he can negotiate this. I MAKE THE CALL.

NBA Finals, East Coast Celtics, Jet Lagged by the Lakers

So you came to the west coast, or should I say left coast, with 2 chances to win the NBA Championship.

Celtics, you could not do it. You had the perfect storm going in the second quarter. You were up by 13 points, but you let it slip away.

Even though Kobe was the MVP of the Series, he did not hurt you. Ron Artest stuck it to you with 20 points and 5 steals, not to mention that you were offensively out rebounded by the Lakers who put a 23 knock on you.

Will someone from Boston tell me how you allowed the Lakers to outscore you by 17 points in the stretch, and gave them 17 opportunities to visit the charity stripe?

Oh, by the way, you only shot 23% for the game. Better luck next time, if there is a next time for you.

I am sure the Lakers will be back in the mix next season, but Celtics, again you have to get by the Cavs, and Magic. I don’t see it happening since 4 of your starting five might not be around, not to mention your coach. I MAKE THE CALL.

Game 6, Black Mamba was the Facilatator

Wow, that was a low score by the Celtics last night in game 6. They were unable to hit water from the side of an ocean liner. As a matter of fact, they were just brick layers all night, laying just 67 points.

Kobe feed his troops and they responded brilliantly. The Lakers bench contributed 24 points to the Celtics zero. Wow, that is a low score. I could have done that. One can only say that the Celtics had an off night, and have to put it together for game 7 on Thursday night.

If the Celtics are to beat the Lakers in the Staple Center in game 7, they had better bring everything but the kitchen sink. Being out rebounded as they were last night is not an option. They must keep the Lakers off the boards both offensively and defensively if they want that trophy. I MAKE THE CALL

NBA, Only Kobe came to play

Defense, defense. This is what the Celtics has been doing against the Lakers. They completely shut down the Lakers with the exception of Kobe Bryant who was the only Laker that came to play.

Everyone else was on vacation. Have you noticed that every time the Celtics out rebounded the Lakers they win? They lost games 1 and 3 because they were out rebounded by the Lakers.

Pierce finally came to play and the score board showed it.

Now the Celtics are going back to LA for the final 2 games. They must continue to rebound as they have been doing. The role players must come off the bench and contribute like they did in game 4. There must be no let up in LA, because Kobe needs no incentives to light it up. He will make you play and pay if you don’t play good defense. I MAKE THE CALL.

NBA Finals, Ray and Rajon Stunned the Staple Center Crowd

It was a foregone conclusion that the Lakers were going into Boston on Tuesday with a two game advantage.

Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo simply said, not so fast my friend. We can still play even though you think we are all over the hill and a little long in the tooth.

Rondo fed Ray and Ray just kept popping the long ball.

When it was all said and done, Ray had set a new record for three point shooting in playoff games.

Rondo ended up with a triple double, and Big Baby Davis, Wallace and Nate came off the bench and gave the Celtics some quality time and points.

There were times when the officiating was a little sloppy, but it was against both teams and really had no effect on the outcome of the game.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were non entities in last night’s game, but the bench took care of their production and more than adequately filled the bill, but in the closing moments, it was all Rondo. I MAKE THE CALL.

NBA Finals, Left Coast Right Coast Rivalry or Revenge?

The finals are here and the Lakers are looking for revenge for their 2008 lost to the Celtics.

I find it hard to accept the fact that KG and Gasol are aging rapidly and are not the players they were 2 years ago.

The Celtics are the better all around team, but if the games are close, Kobe is the ultimate closer and he will bring smoke to you in the closing minutes of the game.

Guard him well throughout the series and which ever team controls the paint, controls the game.

Mr Wallace can control the paint for Boston better than anyone. If he plays the low post without back problems, lookout Lakers, it will be over. I MAKE THE CALL.

NBA Finals, 2008 all over again

This will be the 12th meeting in the finals for these 2 Titans. Boston in the last 11 finals against LA is 9 wins and 2 losses. Number 10 is just 7 games away.

Yes, I said it. It will go seven games. Boston is one hell of a road team and I am looking for the Celtics to steal one game in the Staple Center.

As I see the match, it is Kobe alone against, Pierce, KG, Allen and Rondo. Four against one.

The math just isn’t on LA’s side. Kobe will get his points, but no one else will. Boston is the better defensive team. Take this to the bank, Celtics in 7. I MAKE THE CALL.

NBA, Eastern Conference Finals, Simply Magic

Lets give Orlando its props. The Magic, like Lazarus has risen from the depths of the grave, and there is life left to fight another day, thanks to Nelson and Superman.

Where was all of this during the first 3 games?

The Celtics are in a bit of a pickle for big men in game 6. They have none.

From concussions to ejections and the possible suspension of Perkins, the Celtics are definitely hurting up top.

Who can they bring to guard Dwight come Friday?

I do not agree with the referee’s call on Perkins even though I am a Magic fan. What has the game come to when you can’t show emotion in the heat of the contest? Gimme a break. The man was even walking away to a neutral spot on the court. That, was just a bad call anyway you look at it.

Did it have an effect on the outcome of the game? I don’t think so, but it would have been a little closer. I MAKE THE CALL.

NBA, Western Conference Finals, Zone or Desert Storm

Bryant was 6 for 9 from the arc, everyone else collectively, 1 for 10. What does that tell you? The zone worked for the Suns who are undersized against the Lakers. Keep them out of the paint, you keep them out of the rack.

The zone was not the only thing that the Lakers were up against. The Sun’s bench contributed 54 points to the Lakers’ bench which delivered a mere 20 points, and they were out rebounded by 51 to 35.

The Suns came to play, and they simply frustrated the Lakers who showed very little defense.

Finally, there was a storm in the desert, led by the Suns. I MAKE THE CALL.
